The Grand National 2012 – Horse Racing event
This Saturday, 14th April 2012 at 4.15pm the starters’ claxon will sound and the horses and jockey’s will be off…
Often considered the world’s greatest steeplechase, the 2012 Grand National kick starts today with Liverpool Day on the 12th April, followed by Ladies Day on the 13th April and culminating with the main Grand National 2012 steeplechase race on Saturday the 14th April.
This year there are 48 six-day acceptors this year, headed by JP McManus’ Synchronised, who is bidding to become the first horse since Golden Miller to win the Cheltenham Gold Cup and Grand National in the same season and will be ridden by Tony McCoy.
With Aintree Grand National first being run in 1839, the famous four-and-a-half mile marathon now attracts a worldwide television audience of 600 million people!
Whilst this weekend might not hold the perfect weather for you to picnic at the horse races – (although, if you’re brave enough make a beeline for the Steeplechase car park as this is the place to picnic at Aintree) – you might consider getting together with friends and family to watch the big race.
